DAY 6. I'M NOT GIVING UP!

Today is day 6 in our fast. Big kudos to all of you who have pressed on doing this fast so far! The first 5 days are the most difficult, so keep going forward, especially making time to spend with God.

My guess is that several things, some of them difficult, have happened during this first few days of the fast. When Jesus decided to fast for 40 days, our Lord was constantly harassed by Satan. Temptation increased during His fasting. But the Lord was able to persevere through all His trials. It would not surprise me if some of you have been attacked by the enemy recently. This is normal. Remember that the enemy does not want more of God in your life. So keep pressing on! Don't give up! Your reward is coming!

And if you have been knocked down by the enemy in the beginning of your fast, be encouraged. Remember that fasting has nothing to do to impress God. If you gave room to temptation, just be humble and go before God in repentance. The enemy may win a battle, but you can win the war. We have 15 days ahead of pursuing God with a sincere heart. God's mercies are new every morning. So get up! Keep moving forward!

  1. If you use your imagination, there's all kinds of tasty things to eat. I made Scot Shimamura's recipe for bannock bread. Super yummy. Two days after starting my fast (March 13) God helped me to make some important decisions for my life.

    God is awesome!

  2. The fast has been great! I starting a week earlier, when I was still recovering from that nasty cold that's been going around. I was seeking the Lord because my health had been going downhill and I was still struggling with being a workaholic. In March, my body shut-down for a couple of days, because I was working too late and wasn’t getting a true Sabbath on the weekends. I was out of work for about 3 days, and I wasn’t productive the other 2 days that I did go to work.

Although I haven't had a big revelation from the Lord, my mind has been clearer, and it's been easier and faster to read the Word each day. Praise Jesus, I discovered that I don't need caffeine to keep alert during the day!...and I don't need meat to survive!

My health has greatly improved, and I'm planning on continuing a vegetarian diet. At times, I've stuffed myself with whole-wheat spaghetti and popcorn...I'm still looking for something to satisfy my craving for bagels and bread, which I really love.

I pray that all of you have also been blessed by your Daniel fast!
